Our story
My name is Erin, I'm 36, and for the better part of a year, 8pm was the hardest hour of my day.
My son Wyatt was four. Bedtime had turned into forty-five minutes of "one more story," "I'm not tired," and him showing up at the top of the stairs three separate times before I'd even started the dishes. I tried the nightlight. I tried the sticker chart. I tried reading five books instead of two, then two instead of five. I tried leaving the hallway light on and the bedroom door cracked exactly four inches, because apparently that mattered. Some nights one of these worked. Most nights none of them did, and I'd end up sitting on the floor of his room at 9:15, exhausted, wondering why the one thing every parenting book promised would "just click eventually" hadn't clicked for us.
A friend who'd been through the same thing with her daughter sent me a stuffed bear that was heavier than it looked — noticeably heavier, the kind of weight you feel the second you pick it up. She'd found it on a trip and couldn't get one shipped to her easily, so she gave me hers to try. I was skeptical. Wyatt was not: he pulled it onto his chest that first night, went quiet in a way I hadn't seen in months, and was asleep before I'd finished the second book. Not every night after that was perfect — no single object fixes bedtime — but the shouting-distance trips to the top of the stairs dropped from three a night to maybe one a week. That was the whole difference. That was enough.
The plush didn't need to be magic. It needed to be heavy enough to feel like a hug, soft enough to actually want to hold, and there every single night.
That bear is the reason Goodnight Plush exists. I went looking for more like it and found a handful of small, scattered options — a weighted animal here, a giant huggable one there, nothing built specifically around the one moment that actually wears parents down: the hour between "time for bed" and the house going quiet. So I started building it myself: weighted plush for the kids who settle with something solid on their chest, giant plush for the ones who want something they can wrap both arms around, and personalized pieces — a name stitched in, given the night they move into their own room — for the milestones that deserve to be marked.
You'll see a small bear on a crescent moon around the site — that's Hush. He's not a character in a story and he doesn't make any promises on his own. He's just our shorthand for the thing every product here is built around: winding down, going quiet, getting to sleep without a fight. If a page mentions Hush, that's what it means — nothing more, nothing clinical.
Every plush we carry earns its place around one job: making the coucher easier, not just being cute in a photo. Weighted pieces for the kids who need the pressure of a solid hug to settle. Giant plush for the ones who want to wrap their whole body around something soft. Personalized pieces for the first nights in a new room, a new name stitched right in. We're upfront about what a product is and isn't — you'll always find the recommended age range and the honest care instructions on the product page, and we don't put a safety claim or a certification on anything we can't back up with paperwork from the people who make it.
We're building out the shop one product at a time. Browse what's live right now, or check back soon — new pieces are added regularly.
